Yes I'm also still learning.
When you draw with pencil keep in mind you can smudge stuff with your finger too it makes it look smooth, there's special paper pen thingies you can buy for smudging too that give more precision than your finger.

I drew this wich did not turn out the way I wanted it to [link]
just as an example of smudging with my finger ^^. It lets you work more dynamicly too and you dont have to draw as precise.

It was supposed to be a portrait of a friend but the resemblence turned out minimal xD
